Industrial & Distribution Systems Sales Division

For 11 years starting from 2008, Daiki Endo engaged in caregiving at assisted living and residential-type fee-based nursing homes. He acquired national certifications as a care worker and long-term care support specialist (care manager), and performed a wide variety of work at caregiving sites, from caregiver for nursing home residents to manager of a home-care support office. He joined Hitachi Systems in 2019 where he was made responsible for sales of an IoT system for caregiving facilities that is a necessity for health care businesses. He is currently using his communication capabilities for creating relations of trust with customers and skill in providing proposals that meet their latent needs.

"I want to deeply investigate as many site issues as possible to reduce the work load at caregiving sites."

These are the words of Daiki Endo who continues to develop rapidly as a valuable human resource who links caregiving sites with IT by using his 11 years of experience working in the caregiving industry.

Endo, who "loves working with other people", studied welfare at university while also providing care for his family before starting his career as a caregiver at assisted living fee-based nursing homes due to his desire "to learn about caregiving technology, and be useful in improving the quality of life and activities of daily life for even more people." After gaining a great deal of experience in caregiving sites, he acquired certifications as a care worker and long-term care support specialist (care manager), allowing him to advance as a valuable human resource involved in all aspects of caregiving sites.

However, he became keenly aware of how the increasing demand for caregiving facilities due to the decreasing birthrate and aging population of Japan is increasing the workload of those working at caregiving sites. This spurred him to think, "Can I use all my previous experience to contribute new approaches for caregiving sites?" This led Endo, who had previously encountered Hitachi Systems, developer of a large variety of IT services, to seek the new goal of wanting to "use IT services to decrease the workload of caregiving sites", and change his career to that of health care business sales. He is able to be so active thanks to his experience in caregiving sites.

Hitachi Systems provides a lineup of various services for caregiving facilities such as ”a system that uses sensors, vital signs measuring equipment, and similar devices to reduce the "time and trouble of recording caregiving data" (a major concern of Endo), and another business system with an ample record of successful implementation, communication tools, and caregiving robots. Although it is difficult to resolve problems of caregiving facility sites simply by introducing individual functions or systems due to the variations in the conditions of residents and facility environments, Endo uses his extensive on-site experience to specifically explain how best to actually combine the various functions and services, and utilize them in a useful manner.

Endo comments that, "In the same way that I created care plans for residents when working as a care manager, now I want to understand the conditions at each facility and confirm their needs in order to create an optimal IT plan." True to these words, Endo always listens intently to customer concerns from the perspective of a care manager when visiting facilities or at trade shows to build a closer relationship with them and deepen his understanding of the caregiving site, gaining him great commonality and confidence among our customers. One good example is that of a customer who was initially considering introducing an intercom system in order to streamline workplace communication of the staff. However, as Endo and the customer worked together to investigate the issue, Endo realized that the essential issue was not the need to streamline staff workplace communication but rather had the customer try using various systems to discover a solution. Endo determined that introducing "body movement sensors" to detect movements of residents' beds and sleep status to ascertain the actions of residents would decrease the number of nighttime rounds checking on residents, optimize workplace communication between staff and reduce their workload, and made a corresponding proposal to the customer. This resulted in improved quality in the service provided to residents.

To further sharpen this personal strength of caregiving site awareness, Endo periodically visits caregiving sites where he previously worked to update information by listening intently to the staff, and he then shares this information within the company to improve the quality of our services and provide similar benefits so as to be able to resolve as many issues as possible. By creating relationships through adopting the same perspective as our customers, Endo has proven to be a valuable asset to the health care team of Hitachi Systems, united as one to tackle the issues of the caregiving industry.

"I feel that visiting numerous facilities such as disabled facilities, home-visit nurses, and day nursing care facilities will enable us to use IT in resolving a wide variety of caregiving site issues that are beyond my personal experience. I want to continue to accumulate sales experience while promoting digitalization of caregiving sites and reforming work styles, as well as contribute to a healthy and secure society." These words of Endo demonstrate why he is such an essential asset for Hitachi Systems' goal of "Digitalization of On-site Operations."
