I would like to share a few thoughts with you at the start of FY 2024.
It is the start of a new fiscal year. Today, we welcomed many new colleagues, including not only the 305 new graduates, but also mid-career recruits, employees of Shikoku Hitachi Systems and of SecureBrain, and more. I would like to give them a very sincere and warm welcome.
I expect that our new employees will make full use of their experience and skills to succeed in their work here. I would also like those employees at workplaces welcoming new colleagues to offer your considerate support, so that they can get a smooth start to their work.
We faced a harsh macroeconomic environment last fiscal year. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all executives and employees for your efforts.
With an aim for achieving the 2024 Mid-Term Management Plan and sustainable growth thereafter, Hitachi, Ltd. will expand the Lumada business and improve its competitiveness on a global scale. We will combine IT, OT, and products to accelerate our creation of value as “One Hitachi.” Furthermore, based on the idea that “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are the source of innovation and growth,” we will promote the cultivation of human resources that can innovate beyond differences in nations, regions, and business structures, as well as work to maintain an environment that allows diverse human resources to exert their capabilities.
In light of these trends throughout the entire Hitachi Group, it is my hope that we at Hitachi Systems will not only reliably achieve our 2024 Mid-Term Management Plan, but will also create a smooth start for our next Mid-Term Management Plan. FY 2024 is the last year of our 2024 Mid-Term Management Plan. We will assuredly carry out strategies for growth including further growth for Lumada (DX/GX), managed services, and modernization, as well as the acceleration of Go-to-Market activities. In particular, by providing services with a focus on monitoring, operation, and maintenance, we will promote the social innovation business as One Hitachi, striving toward our goal of contributing to sustainable growth for our customers.
In order to achieve this goal, we have made improvements to our organizational structure effective as of April 1, 2024.
We have spun off the security business and global business of the Business Cloud Services Group to newly establish the “Global & Security Services Group.” This Group will gather technologies from group companies both in Japan and overseas to provide high-quality managed security services in the security business, a field that sees high social demands. At the same time, we will improve our collaboration with overseas subsidiaries within the Hitachi Group to carry out global scaling.
We have also established a new “Business Innovation Management Group.” We will promote the utilization of digital technology with a focus on generative AI in all directions as we aim to promote business growth and profitability through high added value services and to improve quality and productivity in internal operations. By doing so, we will work to fundamentally reform our business.
I ask that you thoroughly enact “Basics and Ethics” and the priority order of “S (Safety) >> Q (Quality) > D (Delivery time) > C (Cost),” so that each and every employee and the company as a whole may achieve wholesome growth.
The founder of Hitachi, Ltd., Namihei Odaira, left us with the phrase, “An Honest Person.” It is said that Odaira was taught by his mother that “A person who is honest will always flourish, and a person who works hard will someday be rewarded,” and he cherished this phrase throughout his life.
I also cherish these words in my daily work.
I ask all employees to discuss any problems you may encounter with your supervisors as soon as possible.
The most important thing is the health and happiness of each individual. I ask that you take your own health management seriously and always stay aware of the fact that “you are responsible for protecting your own health” so that you may live a fulfilling life with family and friends.
I also ask that, in cooperation with the 901 campaign, you avoid drinking in excessive amounts and for long periods of time.
In order to practice our Corporate Philosophy and achieve sustainable growth, I believe that it is important for us to create opportunities for growth wherein employees can work toward their “ideal selves” as well as to create secure and safe workplaces that enable members to give their all. As a company, we will engage in various measures including DEI and support everyone so that your place to be here becomes even more attractive.
I would like to conclude my message by offering my best wishes for another fiscal year of healthy, bright, and fulfilling days for our customers, partners, Hitachi Systems Group employees and their families, and all other stakeholders.
April 15, 2024
Setsuo Shibahara
President and CEO
